The Key Person is allocated after spending a few weeks observing the attachments made between child and practitioner. It is a relationship built on mutual respect and is a vital aspect of your child's time with us. It is the role of the Key Person to follow the individual child and provide opportunities based on their unique interests and scaffold each child's individual learning and development. The Key Person will be your child's 'safe base' at Nursery and will be responsible for personal and intimate care for your child to maintain a good level of trust.

Working in Partnership with Parents

The Key Person will be your main point of contact when discussing your child and getting to know the family.  You will be able to meet with your child's Key Person regularly to discuss the well-being and happiness of your child. It is of paramount importance that positive relationships are built between parent and practitioner in ensuring high-quality care and education for your child.

Using Tapestry

We use the Tapestry Online Learning Portal to document observations of your child's play and learning experience which Parents have direct access to. The portal enables positive communication with Parents and allows you to have an insight into your child's time at Nursery. The Care Diary feature is also helpful for children and babies first settling in. This two-way communication also enables Parents to have an input into their child's learning, by commenting on observations, providing reflections and adding experiences from home for the Key Person to see. This acts as a journal of your child's time with us and is a very special way of seeing your child busy and exploring in our learning environment.
